Jenny worked at the Law Society and the SRA for over 20 years in various roles, mainly in Policy where she developed a reputation for being the SRA’s expert on referral fees. She was instrumental in the SRA’s implementation of the ban on referral fees in personal injury cases and has drafted guidance and other supporting material for the SRA’s website. She was responsible for training key SRA staff on the effect of the ban and also provided external training on the subject.
In addition, Jenny played a key role in the implementation of outcomes-focused regulation for solicitors. She was one of the authors of the SRA Handbook, with particular responsibility for the Code of Conduct. Jenny has trained SRA staff, particularly those in the Supervision function, on the new Code, as well as providing external training.
Jenny advises and trains firms on referral arrangements and LASPO compliance, conduct issues such as client care, complaints handling, conflicts of interest, client confidentiality and disclosure and separate business issues.
Outside work, she enjoys travelling, especially going on cruises which allows her to visit many different places without all the hassle of flying.
